Historical Reconstruction of Medieval Guildford in the 14th Century, for ‘Guildford Castle VR’ in Unreal Engine 4. I was responsible for creating the majority of the inner Bailey Buildings such as all The Great Hall, Great Gate, Kings Chambers, Wardrobe, Chapels and other chambers. I also worked on the research and placements of all the castle buildings, Cross Referencing: maps, scale models, scan data and excavation reports, to create the most accurate depiction of Guilford Castle yet!
Extra time and effort was spent on The Great Hall and Great Gate as these are two of the most important buildings on the site and have features that still exist today. I made use of excavation findings that had been done and tried to make sense of all the information to create my interpretation of the Great Hall. Also referencing the written accounts of the buildings from the period.
Special thanks goes to Historian Mary Alexander, for advising us on this project and offered invaluable incite that was crucial to the success and accuracy of the project
Throughout the project I worked closely with Béla Csampai on the historical recreation, he was responsible for the town buildings, the keep, walls, kitchen and the east chambers. As well as lots of the shared textures throughout all buildings. The project required a lot of research and was a research project in of itself, in order to faithfully recreate the castle accurately
